I don't use ubuntu, but maybe this will be helpful? https://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/libwtdbo35

The project is named "wt", not "witty".

The binary package was removed from recent versions of Ubuntu because the Debian (and Ubuntu) maintainer stopped maintaining it. It was indeed called "witty".

I don't use ubuntu, but it looks like these packages are available from the package repository in binary form, no?

https://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/libwt35

https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libwt-dev

https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libwt-dbg

https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libwt-common

? What happens when you try to install these using your package manager?

I don't think I'm seeing any WT version 4 packages, though...

Yeah, those are old, and only for trusty (16.04). I've considered making sure there are binary builds on Ubuntu (either through a PPA or through other means), but I haven't gotten around to doing that.

There are unfortunately no binary builds for Ubuntu at the moment. Some other distributions have more up to date packages, but at the moment you'll have to build from source on Ubuntu.
